It’s Short And Waits For No One.

Parenting

I woke up yesterday, hopped in the shower, got dressed and started to hear my daughter asking Dallas to put her cute dress on, which lead to a meltdown over shoes she wanted to wear to school. As I’m brushing my teeth in our bathroom Carly comes in and tells me, “I need some eyes daddy.” Still half asleep, I’m a little confused. It hits me as she reaches for Dallas’ makeup. She needs makeup? I know she just wants to do the things her mother does; but still, a little early, right? She’s almost 3 years old! Outfit, shoes and make up are already a primary concern for her in the morning. I don’t mind at all. Well, let’s get more specific. I don’t mind that she wants to do girly things at this age, but I can’t stand the speed at which she is growing up. I need more time.

Great Band; Menomena

Posted on September 26, 2007

Music

An old friend gave me a cd from this band about a month ago, and I’ve had nothing but good reviews from all the friends I’ve recommended the band to. They are from Portland, Oregon, and amazingly enough, have been around since 2000. Check out this video of they’re latest release from Friend and Foe entitled “Wet and Rusting”.

The video is weird and pointless, but the music is innovative and inspiring.

Surf Headed Our Way!

Posted on September 20, 2007

Surfing

About time… I am not wanting to get hit with a hurricane or deal with all the crap that comes along with it, but I’m ready for some surf. Lets hope these disturbances do just that; produce a decent size swell and not much else. We have one disturbance in the eastern gulf right now which seems to be getting everyone’s attention, but there is also another low to keep our eye on in the caribbean. Let’s hope these don’t get too out of control.

Here is what were looking at right now.

Surface Gallery Opening

Posted on September 17, 2007

Art

Surface Gallery opened this past Saturday with art from several artists showing. The gallery is located on the corner of 12th avenue and E. Strong St. There was a great group of people attending and a lot of talk about the diverse work shown. I have a great feeling about the venue and if this opening was a precursor to events to come, we have very interesting work ahead. There are three shows on tap before 2007 ends. Get all the details and information regarding the upcoming shows here.

On a side note, I refrained from using the word “eclectic” in this blog after complaints of overuse piled in.

Macbeth Shirts Out Now!

Posted on September 12, 2007

Art

In early 2006 I was commissioned to create artwork for Macbeth, a vegan shoe and apparel company (nothing they make uses any animal product) owned by Tom Delong of the band Angels and Airwaves. I created 6 designs for use in their 2007 apparel line. Here’s a link to their new line and the shirts I designed.

I’ll say this much; they are different, simple and I am proud of them. I hope to get the chance to work with Macbeth again. It was a pleasure and I love the products the company puts out!

Angels Garden Art Show

Posted on September 5, 2007

Art

I had the opportunity to visit Angels Garden tonight (sept. 4th.07) to view the work of Joe Hobbs. The backdrop was a beautiful garden nestled deep in East Hill, an eclectic community located 5 miles north east of downtown Pensacola. The show portrayed an interesting perspective between the marriage of glass sculpture and vibrant foliage. The turn out was substantial with a great group of local Pensacola art enthusiasts attending.

On a side note: Joe hobbs, with fellow artist Evan Berkowitz, is opening the Surface art gallery, next Saturday (15th of sept.07) which should prove to be the beginning of an influential, Pensacola art movement.
