West Side Hop-A-Long

Lifestyle

A while ago I wrote about a gentlemen known as Hop-A-Long that walks great distances in Pensacola with a great attitude that affects people in a positive way. Well, I just found a guy that works the west side beat. Let’s call him Patriotic Pete.

What is it? What do these people have that keeps them going and keeps them so positive?

Let’s say you run across 2 individuals. They both worked at the same “salt mine” all their life. Worker number one had a high ranking position and thought that job wasn’t good enough for him. Worker number two had a “low end” position, took his work in stride, and always felt lucky to have a job. Of the two workers, which one do you respect?

I feel like something is dawning on me here. It’s not about where you are in life; it’s how you handle where you are.
This guy (photo to the left) looks like he has nothing. But he somehow spends the majority of his time giving. Granted it’s a wave and a patriotic smile, but hey, what have I done lately?
Here’s to you Patriotic Pete.

One of the Greats

Lifestyle

Neil Young is just plain incredible. He’s getting older, but still cranking out great music. His most recent album, Prairie Wind is a great return to what is known as his “Ditch Trilogy“. It is so good to hear such an amazing talent still going after all these years. I have yet to see him perform live, so these Youtube clips will just have to do for now.

Enjoy!

P.S. Keep an eye out for some recent Neil Young music. Actually, I’ll keep an eye out for you.

More Surfing

Surfing

Surf photos tend to be just what a surfer needs during these long, flat, summer spells that creep along here in Pensacola. A friend sent me a few photos from a surf session that I had the pleasure of surfing with a few friends during tropical storm Barry, and man was I excited. Completely reinvigorated and ready to go chase surf around the southeast. You know, Jacksonville has some really good surf and is only 5.5 hours away. I’m so fired up that it’s a done deal right now.

This is why surfers normally can’t hold a job down.

The Hyatt

Web Design

Here’s some exciting news to come out of the Wildfire Productions work bin! We are working on an e-blast/newsletter campaign for the Hyatt Corporation. This is a new marketing avenue for tourism-based businesses; major hotels and restaurants who use this to promote events and other happenings in “the now”. As we all know, standard marketing techniques are changing at a rapid pace. General print marketing tactics are becoming less cost effective, less successful, and they tend to not strike at the right time.

Using email databases generated by patrons of the Hyatt hotel, we are hitting Hyatt’s target market with a user friendly, enticing email with timely, relevant information. If the business is constantly shifting, shouldn’t the marketing of that business follow suit? Did I mention that there are no printing costs?
