Pensacola Beach Oil Spill First Signs.

Pensacola Beach was swarming with news vans equipped with satellite hook-ups and parking passes this afternoon. I’d say it was a little sensational, as the crowds at the Dock ‘oohhhhed & aahhhhed’ at themselves on live TV being played back through the tv set up in the Dock bar. No oil to report, just watched everyone watch themselves. I decided to head west to Ft. Pikens to snoop around/soak up the beach. I went for 1/2 mile walk then turned back to find this:

If you can, head out there now. Enjoy it while you can, then concentrate on BP.

This Makes Me Feel A Little Better

My wife and I are thinking about getting a new car. Her Saturn is too small to shuttle around our two children. The term minivan has been used. This video made me feel a little better about the decision.

Vice Magazine: Liberia = Disturbing

Posted on February 10, 2010

Lifestyle

I’ve been a secret fan of this magazine for a long time now. Secret mainly because of their typical subject matter. There is no subject out of bounds and they always have a very blunt perspective on things. I personally think Vice just looks for shocking stories, no matter the agenda and normally does a pretty good job of telling them. This video is the beginning of an 8 piece series on Liberia and tells a story that I have never heard before.

Shocking would be an understatement…

This should be fun. An old friend, Kaipo is throwing a surf style party with custom designed t-shirts for sale by seven local artists ($5 a piece!!!), free beer, free food, a surf movie will be playing, music and Sean Fell will be doing a surfboard shaping demo. What more could you really ask for? Really?

So, here’s the info:

When: This Friday, Novemeber 6th, 5-7pm / After party will be at The Break on p-beach
Where: Aloha Screen Printing, 2635 Gulf Breeze Pkwy
Ph: 850.934.4716

Each artist (I’m one of them) has designed one shirt. Each shirt will be made right then and there. You’ll get to see the whole process go down.

Ft. Pickens is back

Posted on August 7, 2009

Lifestyle, Photography

The weather is cooling off, the summer crowds are thinning and the time for locals to reclaim the beach is here. My wife and I headed out to Ft. Pickens last night. It was beautiful, not to mention free. We watched the sunset and moon rise.

Here’s a few photos:

My mother is not a violent person, but i think this just might push her over the edge…
This looks like a movie where the rubber will actually meet the road.

Blackwater State Park and the need to unplug

Posted on July 14, 2009

Lifestyle, Photography

While doing some research on the Santa Rosa area for work, I stumbled across an old campsite out at Black water river state park using google maps. After the hurricanes many of the spots I used to visit are inaccessible. I’m planning on taking my family camping this fall and I wanted to find a secluded spot away from the Black water hustle and bustle, which there can be sometimes. So I did some recon yesterday. It was pure speculation, using google maps as my only indicator. I scored. Found an amazing spot with two huge sugar white beaches, deep river sections and not a footprint to be found. It was great to be back out there. It’s an amazing resource we have. Below are a few photos of the day.
