Posted on June 3, 2010
Art, Design, Lifestyle, Painting, Photography, SurfingPensacola Beach was swarming with news vans equipped with satellite hook-ups and parking passes this afternoon. I’d say it was a little sensational, as the crowds at the Dock ‘oohhhhed & aahhhhed’ at themselves on live TV being played back through the tv set up in the Dock bar. No oil to report, just watched everyone watch themselves. I decided to head west to Ft. Pikens to snoop around/soak up the beach. I went for 1/2 mile walk then turned back to find this:

If you can, head out there now. Enjoy it while you can, then concentrate on BP.

Red One Digital Video
Posted on May 12, 2009
Photography, SurfingThere have been many advancements with digital sensors housed within all digital video and still cameras, but the “Red One” manufactured by Red Digital Cinema Camera Company is a huge leap. The physical resolution of this video camera is 4900 x 2580 pixels at 30 frames per second and the sensor measures in 24.4 x 13.7 mm (334 mm2). All other digital HD cameras sit at 1920 x 1080/1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second. Below are a few examples:

Surf A Few Weeks Ago
Posted on January 17, 2009
SurfingThe surf picked up around here a few weeks ago. It was big for the gulf coast with an onshore wind making for churned up surf. Eventually the wind died and it cleaned up. A good friend of mine Nik McCue took a few shots before he went out. Here’s one:

Here’s a link to the other photos from that day:

Here’s his website that he updates regularly with local surf / photography: sidestreamsports.com
